Welcome to the Digital World Factbook CD-ROM, an interactive geographic reference tool that contains the whole CIA World Factbook text for 1996-7, including country and area maps for over 250 world areas.
CONTENTS:
"Factbook"
"Maps"
"RTF_Text"
There are three folders in the Digital World Factbook CD-ROM. The main application is in the folder called "Factbook". The maps and text have been included in separate folders for the benefits of both student and teacher, or others who wish to manipulate or print out the text to create reports, etc. The "Maps" folder contains black and white versions of all the maps used in the Factbook application in .gif format. RTF versions of the text files are in the "RTF_Text" folder.
INSTALLATION:
The Factbook does not need to be installed on your hard disk, as it has been designed to run off the CD-ROM. You can create a shortcut to the "Digital World Factbook" application to launch the program from the harddrive. To do this, in Windows '95, first select the icon "Factbook.exe" in the Factbook folder. Then go to the "File" menu on the folder and select the function "Create Shortcut". This will create an icon which you can move anywhere on your harddrive and use to launch the program.
TO RUN THE APPLICATION
To launch the application, double click on the icon "Factbook.exe". To navigate to the
specific country you want to read about, go to either the "Alphabetical List" or the "Area
List". To close the program, return to the main menu and click on the "Quit" button.
